No need for the hams. Communications are working perfectly.

This is another example of the ARRL and Hams taking a natural disaster
and trying to promote themselves with it for their selfish gain.

Do you have any idea how fast communications can go down ?

"Another" example? "Gain"? What "gain" is there in providing public
service while working in a cold or wet or dangerous disaster area under
emergency conditions?

The article you ridicule said "officials in North Dakota's Cass County
and Minnesota's Clay County requested the assistance of local amateurs".

Hmmm, the county -officials- *requested* the hams help. Yup, sure sounds
like the hams are trying to 'selfishly' promote -themselves-.

"Initially, hams supported the area, helping out with coordinating food
and water requests for the Salvation Army and Red Cross".

"...ham activity is morphing from dike preparations to developing
emergency communications for evacuations, in the event should that
become necessary".

Please refer to the FRONT PAGE article in the Wall Street Journal,
praising the hams for their good work in being the -only- communications
in many places during Katrina.

Hams have a long and proud history of providing communications in times
of disaster.

Sorry, but to me, your post sounds like the petulant and childish
whining of a ham "wannabe" that couldn't cut the mustard.
