Sounds like you're beginning to see the light.

Yesterday, I saw and I heard on local tv news, Mississippi State
Legislature has nearly nine hundred and fifty million dollars in
reserve.

How does that compare with other States?

That just means Mississippi has fewer socialists willing to redistribute
your wealth for only very good causes of course.

Oak of the Golden Dream, Postcard, c. 1963. (Plastichrome by
Colorpicture Publishers Inc. of Boston, distributed by Chris Cards of
China Lake, Calif.)

Card reads: "Oak of the Golden Dream. In 1842 under this spreading oak
tree, the first gold was discovered in California. The finder, Don
Francisco Lopez, after sleeping beneath these boughs, noted bright
particles on wild onions he had pulled and found them to be gold. The
famous oak still stands in Placerita Park near Newhall and Saugus, Calif."

When I lived in Montana in 1956, my dad bought a gold pan (for panning
in the water for gold) for me.I didn't find any gold in those streams
and rivers though.
Nowadays, there still are some people out West finding gold right now,
in California and other places.

with them. That's what the legislators are for.

I'm glad prop 13 happened. Some propositions are good.

I think this latest fiasco was a good thing. This turned out to be a
very good check on California's legislative branch.

You must've bought in a trough; people that buy at the top have a
totally different perspective on Prop 13. I see it as a lazy,
simplistic solution to a complicated issue.

Dave,

The Propositions Ultimately Allow "We The People"
To Decide : Meaning The Final Decision To Over-Tax
and Over-Spend Belongs to the Citizens {Voters}.

What Is Wrong With Allowing All The Citizens To
Vote and Decide To Over-Tax Themselves and ?
Over-Spend for Themselves ?

Direct democracy is mob rule. It ignores the rights of minorities.

No that's what the people are for, The legislators are a useless bunch
of crooks. It's about time the people took this country back.

The problem with that is that the people don't necessarily know how things
work (need to be better educated in the works of government). Like there
were a couple of propositions in CA years ago. One was to roll back
insurance premiums. That one resulted in insurance companies denying most
claims and then using a loophole in the law to raise the rates enormously on
anyone that DID get a claim paid.

Another one rolled back property taxes. It resulted in the closing of fire
departments, police stations and schools. People haven't a clue of the
ramifications of their actions. I totally agree that things need to change,
there's way too much fat (not pork) in government, too many middle
management types, too many committees, too much waste. If they got rid of
all the useless garbage in government, all the wasteful spending (the
military pays $3000 for a hand held computer/scanner that a civilian could
get for less than 1/4 of that!), then there would be no need to hack away at
Medicare, Social Security/SSI and other entitlement programs, and certainly
no need to mess with essential services.

Those 'finders' are the one who enter a jewelry store
display their nine and ask for it.

Nah, there are actually people panning the rivers in central CA that are
still finding tiny bits of gold. It's not exactly a living, just a hobby
that may bring in as much as $300-400 a year.
