I was thinking about buying the ETON E1. Is it a good shortwave radio?
Is it better than the SONY ICF-2010? I want to DX with it like my 2010.
Is the signal stability really good? Is the stock antenna pretty decent?
I just want to know what you guys think. If you say it's a good
shortwave, i might buy it. jacob

If I buy another portable that will be the one. There is plenty of
info all over the net about that particular piece. There's a few guys
in here that own one, I'm sure someone will give you a holler. I am
sure you won't be dissapointed in it:-)

I'm pretty happy with mine. Not crazy about having to pay another $100-200
for the XM head and antenna.. but then, I'm not where I can get XM anyway,
and not likely to be in the foreseeable future. The MW/SW is excellent and
great audio.

Definately a lot cheaper than when I bought my E1, then. The "cheap"
adapter head was $100 and the "deluxe" was $200. And that was with a lot of
shopping around and price comparisons. Maybe I'll have another look.

One of my basic beliefs is not to use non-standard fonts and characters
so knock it off.

Every time you post about Islamic beliefs here you lose one of those

Aren't googlegroups posters the virgins that get distributed
in packets of 72 to all the entrants of heaven (jannah)?

google virgins

I had a good laugh at that one Bob.

I have one of each and both are very good value. However the first E1 I
purchased had the display problem, the second ... they snuck in a demo into
the box, finally the third is up and running and quite the radio.
Shame they had those rough spots along the way.

Aren't those Eton E1 radios made in India? Did they ever start
installing an antenna in those radios?

Have they actually installed an internal ferrite antenna? If they have I
sure would like to purchase the add on.

I have two of the "Twin Coil Ferrite AM Antennas" . They do work well. One
I use on the CC Radio Plus(needs some help).
'Just that I thought there might have been a ferrite I could slip inside to
make the set more portable.
I haven't even tried the XM feature yet. Seems awful expensive for
something I get for free. 'Guess I'm just cheap.
The E1 is one of my best ones along with the Sony SW-55, just wish they had
made the display on the E1 a little brighter.
