Shocking Experience
After 61 years of playing with, and working with AC electricity I finely
got mine. On top of a 12 "Aluminum" ladder in the rain I stuck the end of an un-insinuated wire into a hot 220vAC wire and got the crap stocked out of me and had to throw myself into space to get away from it. I hit three flowerpots, and a tree on the way down then landed on a cement border around the tree. I'm OK, sore cut up a little but alive. The juice went in my left hand and out my left knee so it didn't cross my heart or other organs (or pianos) on the way out. Left hand hurts and left knee is swollen and very sore. I could feel each cycle of the AC as it went threw me and I could not open my hand. A smaller or person who was not in as good a shape as I am would have fried their heart. 5 minutes after the stock/fall my BP was 132/62 with a pulse of 65, that's high for me but I'll take it. I have had many friends do the same thing and die. Over 33 years as a telephone man I lose a lot of friends to doing the wrong thing at the wrong time and today it was me BUT, I'm OK. So Mote It Be -- Burr Big, Lean, Mean and Clean I'll be lifting until they pry the bar from my cold dead hands Adventure before Dementia |

I had one experience like that when I was maybe 16 or 17 and I decided to mess around inside a Hammarlund receiver, quite the shock. Only other thing like that I saw was another guy in the Navy getting into about 5 KV, sent him across the work space, but he was OK. You keep doing that Cuz, and your adventure will be over and you won't make it to dementia. |

Was working on a microwave oven, and got across that .5uf 4KV cap. Definately a more stout jolt than from a TV CRT... I always thought, up to that time, that getting launched backward across a room by a jolt like that was something that only happened in cartoons.. well.. after I picked myself up from a large pile of stainless steel cookware on the other side of the kitchen, I thought much differently. Definately got my attention (and got my heartrate up to about 200 for a couple minutes..) |

"Joe from Kokomo" Glad to hear you are OK. Thanks but it's going to take sometime on my knee. But, whatever prompted you to "stick the end of an un-insinuated wire into a hot 220vAC wire"? Just ain't to smart. Wife even told me to watch that wire it maybe hot, it was!! Over 33 years as a telephone man... What company? What was your job? Got my education from SWB in Dallas then owned my own consulting company all over the world and a EPBX, LAN and sound systems east of LA. I started as a Maintenance Lineman worked my way up to a walking PBX man in Dallas, five years. |

Like ya say, you think it only happens in a cartoon, but when it happens to you, it becomes a very, very fast cartoon! Another story I related to Cuzz Burr this morning had to do with a fellow who removed what he thought was a defective pressure gauge from a fuel tank access cover that was in our workspace. The tank itself was directly below us. The gauge was indeed defective, tank still pressurized, and at the time all our fire control gear, radar stuff, computers, were fired up. A few hairy and scary moments there. I still remember the very shocked look on my fellow sailors face as he tried to plug the flow of fuel that was spraying out all over the place. |

You went almost as high as the Space Shuttle, didn't you?
One time I was replacing one of the wall outlets (120 volts) in my living room.I didn't turn off the electric power to my living room because I didn't think I would get shocked. Never grab two hot wires at the same time while holding pliers in each hand. You can't let go of them.My body tripped the circuit.I am glad it wasen't 240 volts I was messing with. cuhulin |

That was about fifteen years ago when I replaced that wall outlet in my
living room, because the old wall outlet, whatever I plugged in wouldn't stay plugged in.I had probally had a few beers too.Otherwise, I probally would have cut the juice to all of the four outlets in my living room. Two of the wall outlets are on one circuit, the other two are on a different circuit. I weigh about 185 pounds now.On February 19th this year, I weighed 210 pounds.I know it was February 19th, 2009 and I weighed 210 pounds because I wrote it down on the inside of one of my bathroom cabinet doors.Maybe that booze I quit drinking last January had something to do with my diet.I am staying on my diet untill I get skinny, skinny, skinny. cuhulin |

Why bother? Everyone KNOWS there are no fat people in Mississippi. mike Quit eating meat, for the most part. I just have occasional barbecue, and turkey on Thanksgiving. No more 3 slabs a day of dead animals. Helps the planet, helps the waistline. |

Shocking Experience
Many years ago, I read somewhere that smart electricians (the ones who
want to live to be a ripe old age) always put one hand behind their back when they are working on high voltage things. That is suppose to be so they won't fry/zap both of the main arteries going to their heart. When I was a kid, we used to dare other kids to stick their fingers into a light bulb socket. That was the first time I got zapped, about sixty something years ago. cuhulin |

Merits of Islam in the Relationship Between Men &Women
I am happy to be a member of this group and I consider you my friends. As a friend , I like to share with you some thoughts that I believe will be useful for your life. Merits of Islam in the Relationship Between Men &Women 1- Islam encourages marriage to prevent committing adultery, and considers marriage to be one of the ways of the Messengers; The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “O young people, whoever among you can afford to get married, let him do so, for it helps one to lower the gaze and protect the private parts (i.e., remain chaste). Whoever cannot afford it, let him fast, for it is a protection for him.” 2- If a man wants to get married but is unable to spend on a wife, then he should adhere to the words of Allah. 24:33 “And let those who find not the financial means for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allâh enriches them of His Bounty” 3- Islam urges people to get married, and prohibits celibacy and castration. It is forbidden to forego getting married even if the intention is to devote oneself to worship. “There is no monasticism in Islam.” because they are against his nature, and against having children. 4- Islam forbids adultery for the sake of reserving lineages, and to prevent unlawful pregnancies and social problems.17: 32. And come not near to the unlawful sexual intercourse. Verily, it is a Fâhishah [i.e. anything that transgresses its limits (a great sin)], and an evil way (that leads one to Hell unless Allâh forgives him). 5- Islam forbids accusing others of adultery and considers it a great sin. 24: 15. When you were propagating it with your tongues, and uttering with your mouths that whereof you had no knowledge, you counted it a little thing, while with Allâh it was very great. 6- Islam prohibits a man to be alone with a woman who is not a relative he can’t marry, because that causes temptation to do immoral and evil actions. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “No man is alone with a (non-mahram) woman but the Satan is the third one present.” 7- Islam forbids unlawful sexual relationships and marrying a woman not chaste.5: 5. Made lawful to you this day are AtTayyibât [all kinds of Halâl (lawful) foods, which Allâh has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, etc., milk products, fats, vegetables and fruits, etc.). The food (slaughtered cattle, eatable animals, etc.) of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) is lawful to you and yours is lawful to them. (Lawful to you in marriage) are chaste women from the believers and chaste women from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) before your time. ————————– For more information about Islam http://english.islamway.com/ http://www.islamhouse.com/ http://www.discoverislam.com/ http://www.islambasics.com/index.php http://english.islamway.com/ http://www.islamtoday.net/english/ http://www.islamweb.net/ver2/MainPage/indexe.php http://www.sultan.org/ http://www.islamonline.net/ Contact Us At |
