Yeah, I read that article, yesterday. Any idea of the exact model
number of the National Panasonic portable pictured in the article?
I've never seen one like that before, but I'd like to add one to my
collection.

Like everything else in the article, it as the WaPO often does, it has no
basis in fact. The diatribe about ham radio operators was totaly off base
and unfounded, the (alleged) spies never transmitted, they only received
transmissions from Cuba.

As for the type of radio pictured, the picture came from the WikiPedia, and
had nothing to do with the one they used.

Yeah, and that article distorted SW listening less than many others
did! Still, does anyone know the model number of that Panasonic? Looks
like a Barlow-Wadley design...

photograph. I have no idea of how to contact him to ask, but maybe someone who
contributes to the WikiPedia does.

If you do, please mention that it would be appreciated if the model of the

I found a picture matching the receiver in Google's Image Library.
It's the National Panasonic 3000. Sold originally for $595.
