I wasen't an Airman, that is Air Force.I was an ammo humper in the 114th
Aviation Company. www.114thaviationcompany.com I worked
in Ammunition Receiving, Storage, Maintnance, and Supply.
It was all hard, hot, grueling, dirty work.
You try it sometime.

Probally as safe as the other people who were in Vietnam. How safe is
that?
I was at Shannon Wright Compound for about two and a half months, then I
was transfered to Tan Son Nhut. www.tsna.org About two weeks after
I was transfered to Tan Son Nhut, Shannon Wright Compound was attacked
by the Vietcong. Not long after I was transfered to Tan Son Nhut, one of
our units at Bien Hoa was attacked by the Vietcong.I was driving the
second truck in line to Bien Hoa.I have a letter of commendation about
that.

Safe is relative to what? Nowadays, I don't feel safe in my own
neighborhood. If you could watch WLBT tv news www.WLBT.com or WJTV
tv news www.WJTV.com or WAPT tv news www.WAPT.com every day,
you would see what I mean.

There used to be a time many years ago when everybody in Jackson and the
Jackson suburb cities felt safe, those years are long gone.

At Tan Son Nhut, I drove a Deuce and a half truck almost every day.I
helped get ammo loaded on pallets and banded up.A lot of times I used a
forklift and I took ammo to the hard stand.I had to step into an office
and phone a certain phone number and let them know there is a load
waiting on the hard stand.I always had to say, WORKING, when I stepped
into that office. An Army guy by the name of Seargent Funk from
Mechanicsville,New York was always sitting at one of the desk inside of
that office.

I used to drive the truck every morning right after chow to the front
gate and pick up half a dozen Vietnamese guys who worked with us at the
ammo dump. There was a Vietnamese gal and I had to drop her off at an
office on our way to work. One of the Vietnamese guys said she is a
butterfly girl, she flys from man to man.
