My financial patronage dropped off quite a bit after they ceased the paper catalog. Oh crap Bob, I know what you mean scary that was exactly how I felt I used to flip through the pages and note nifty toys to buy and evaluate when extra cash accumulated in my entertainment jar. Exactly. Nowadays I only stop in for an occasional fuse or battery with the exception of an HD tabletop I got a few months ago they were blowing out at discount pricing. I may make it up there once or twice a year if that unfortunately. |

Operator Bob Echo Charlie 42 Hi Guys, Just in regard to your comments, I must say when I used to live in the States many years ago, I would often be a regular visitor to the good ol' local Radio Shack store. It would be sort of a Saturday morning ritual for me when my then-wife and I were out and about running errands. While she was at the drugstore getting a few bits and pieces, I would make my way across the sidewalk to the 'shack' to peruse all the neat little gadgets available at the time. It would sometimes take my wife literally hours to drag my keister outta that store to go home heh. I wonder if that had anything to do with her now being my ex?! :) Kind regards, BK G6 |

Good riddance.
Tandy ruined the once proud term "radio shack" by naming their chain of stores selling trinkets and low-quality consumer junk after the 70s. When RS was a real electronics store based in Boston they were great but that was in the 50s and 60s. Tandy really ruined it. Since then I have done most anything to avoid going in one. The clerks are imbeciles. The products, inferior. Anything you ask them for is met with a dumbfounded look. They'd be better suited to wearing vests and greeting customers with "welcome to Radio Shack... would you like to try a bloomin' onion or start out with an appetizer?" Maybe the bruised term "radio shack" can now begin its healing process and be used again with a semblance of respect. |

Didn't Radio Shack used to be called Allied Radio? I have an old 1955
Allied Radio catalog here, it is in Good condition. In Limeyland, Radio Shack stores are called Tandy. Also, in Limeyland, Gunsmoke (the old tv movies) is called Gun Law. cuhulin |

As to HRO... go there on any given Saturday and you'll find; a bunch of gray thinning haired, pot bellied old geezers leaning on pickup trucks bristling with antennas talking about cryptic topics in braggadocio tones, and don't forget, the powdered sugar dust on their tee shirts from eating all the freebie donuts over by the coffee pot. I'm bald and lost my gut. I have a crossover SUV and have never wanted to rag chew (neither face to face nor on the radio). I go to lurk look at stuff that I end up buying HamCity dot com (on Sepulveda-but I get it UPS one day ground. HamCity has good prices. I have never been to their store front. San Diego has a lot of electronics stuff. |

We eat regular American food around here.I see quite a few foreign style
restaurants listed in my phone book. Crechale's Restaurant on Highway 80, about two miles East behind doggy's couch, is over fifty years old, the restaurant is famous for the best steaks and seafood in the World. It is an old restaurant and doesn't look like much on the outside, but the food is Great. They still have that old neon Crechale's sign too. cuhulin |

Frank's World famous Biscuits Jackson,Mississippi The other Best restaurant in Jackson is the Cherokee Inn restaurant wayyyyyyyy up North on North State Street.I guess it is still there.I heard somewhere they done remodeled that old restaurant. Lets me plop my battery into my old van (I don't leave my battery in my van because I don't believe in spreading my wealth, I bought that battery last September when I bought my new old 1983 Dodge RV van.I am the second owner of that van.The old guy I bought it from sure did take real good care of that van) and git on over to the Lowe's store now.I hopes the Lowe's store done put out some more flat washers of the size I need.I needs about 35 for each one of the Ondura roofin panels I am going to screw down onto the roof rafters of my trailer shed. JT and Dave www.supertalkms.com just now said the new Chevrolet Volt car should get 230 miles per gallon, in city traffic, it will cost about $40,000 though. That's according to Government Motors.(General Motors) JT and Dave also said the only reason the new Toyota Prius plant in Blue Springs (near Tupelo) is not open now is because of a shortage of batteries and they are made in Japan. www.southernautocorridor.com cuhulin |

The Battery Shack.
Need batteries with that? I haven't been to a Radio Shack store in years. Just across Highway 80 from doggy's couch is Metrocenter Mall, there is a Radio Shack store in that mall.About a mile and a half South of doggy's couch is another Radio Shack store in that strip mall next door to the Wal Mart store.(the GNC store is in that strip mall, that's where I buy my Estrogen capsules) There are some more Radio Shack stores in the Jackson area too.Lets me look em up in my phone book,,,, I counted seven Radio Shack stores listed in my phone book. cuhulin |
