Thanks, Ace.

Oh, btw...as long as you're here. Yesterday, we had a huge power
failure here at the ranch. Tree took out a trunk on the next block.
Lots of darkness.

I took advantage of the quiet, and hooked up the R8A to
batteries, and sat for a quiet listen in the dark.

I've had similar experiences with my Ten-Tec, and I've taken the
HF-150, the Sat 650, and Sat 700 to the woods. But this was
different. And a very enjoyable experience. Some great listening,
and the DRAKE was very easy to handle in the dark. Near intuitive,
but easily adapted to in cases where it isn't.

The lower output of the MTA antenna was more than offset by the
sensitivity of the receiver and the dramatically low noise floor of
the MTA.

Now, I bought this thing largely due to your ongoing endorsement
of Drake receivers. As well as some things I'd read, comments I'd
heard. And my experience with SW-2 and SW-8.

But largely because of your comments.

Credit where due.

Thanks.

Thanks so much for the link dxAce. I put on a pot of coffee and had a
good read through it. As you probably know, I am still trying to come
to grips with the many operating features of my new Grundig G6 (I
purchased the special Buzz Aldrin LIMITED edition unit) so I am really
not able to take advantage at this stage of the many frequencies
provided on the particular 'Topnews' website. Was just wondering
dxAce, would you know of any particular hard copy magazines which
would be beneficial for a beginner 'wavie' such as myself? I am trying
to read as much material as possible, as I figure that is one of the
best ways to get myself up to speed. I am also trying to spend as much
time with my unit as possible to really get a handle on it.

Kind regards and thank you so much in advance for your advice/
guidance,
BK G6 (Another happy Aviator 'Buzz Aldrin' special edition owner)

On Mondays through Fridays, WJTV channel 12 runs an old Andy Griffith tv
movie at 6:30 PM, right after the 6:00 PM tv news, WJTV tv has been
doing that for years. That is GOOD, because then I don't watch those
freaks and queers on Ask This Old House on the DIY channel at 6:30
PM.WLBT channel 3 used to run an old Bonanza movie right after the 10:00
PM tv news. That was GOOD too.
That is Top News.
