Those of you in N. America who want an easy English log/QSL for GUIANA
FRENCH, your prayers have been answered! VoR, for the past several
days, has begun to transmit its standard evening EE BC relay from 0200
onward via Fr.Guiana on 9735 kHz, a blockbuster signal as of May 17.
Also available for you Moldova lovers just 70 kHz lower on 9665 kHz,
with a weaker but other quite readable signal at 0300z.

FWIW, VoR switched back to Spanish during the 0200-0400 period on 9735
kHz again tonight after only three nights in English. Oh, well - a
mistake? A test? A power struggle between the two mighty Western
Hemisphere languages? The world may never know... ;-) Whatever it
was, VoR came in better in English than at almost any other time
ever...

The days when one could receive nearly round-the-clock signals from Radio
Moscow, BBC, VOA etc. in the Eastern USA are long gone...

A note about Moldova: per NASWA there a no current broadcasts from Moldova
itself. but rather Pridnestrovie, which has a separatist government since
Sept. 2, 1990. Reception in or after December 1993 count as Pridnestrovie,
and prior as Moldova.

It is not certain as to whether any broadcasts ever really emanated from what
is now considered to be Moldova ( transmitter site: Kishinev), but if one has
a QSL from Radio Moscow with the transmitter site as Kishinev prior to
December 1993 it counts as Moldova.

and Icecast to tune them in.

Bull****. Everybody is available 24/7 now. I suggest you use Shoutcast
and Icecast to tune them in.

Thanks, this is all very interesting! So the actual current name per
the prov. gov't is Pridnestrovie (fun to pronounce!); and in fact the
radio "station" name includes that name also - but the listings in
Eibi, HFCC and etc. still list Moldova. Must be 'cause it's easier to
spell. Well, at least a QSL from that location yields another NASWA
country, so no harm, no foul :-)

Ditto here, although Chinese Radio Whatever + Firedrake certainly
fills up the airwaves 24/7, and Cuba is ubiquitous much of the day and
downright obnoxious on 25 and 49 meters. I'd rather have them ease
back a bit and let others through; I don't miss nonstop VoA / RM /
BBC...
