Do a Google on 'The Four Chaplains'.

Heard the story a few weeks ago, and I know I heard it before, but did some
further checking, made some calls, and found that Clark V. Poling, one of 'the
four chaplains' had attended Hope College, here in Holland, Michigan.

A stamp was issued in 1948 in honour of the four brave men, who sacrificed
their lives, so that others might live.

While doing my research, I rounded a corner, and encountered some German
soldaten from WWII !

Seems as though a movie was being filmed about the holocaust.

Indeed. I do find it interesting to walk around town, and the campus, and
remember that Mr. Poling was here. Now that I know exactly where a marker is
that remembers both him, and others that served during WWII, which I'll visit
tomorrow.

I plan to place a single rose there with a simple card. Maybe, some student,
will stop to read it and hopefully remember.

What is interesting is that some staff members at the college were not aware
of the story of Mr. Poling and the other Chaplains.

Another individual you might look at is Matt Urban.

One thing I do know, and that is that one never knows what lies within us,
until we are called upon to produce it.

What I'm saying is that no one gets up on any given day hoping/expecting to be
a 'hero' or do heroic things. They, and the circumstances, simply converge.

Pause, remember, and you'll put magic in the air.

And, Larry, thanks for your service to Our Country.

One further comment:

What I do find strange is that when I was trying to discover whether or not
there was some plaque on the campus honouring Mr. Poling, it was mentioned to
me that they (the college staff, I suppose) did not wish to turn the campus
into a cemetery.

Yet, when I ponder a bit, so many buildings on the campus seem to be named
after past college presidents and/or large donors to the college.

Thanks for making the world safe for Monsanto and DuPont.

Does MSNBC know what you do while watching them? When are you gonna
wipe off all that cum on your Che Guevara t-shirt?
