If that's how it's going to be, I will. But I warn you, Pete, my attorney appears on both TV *and* the back of busses. This tells me that he knows how to cover all the bases, and will savage your attorney like a baby in a pit-bull's jaws. Perhaps he will even be responsible for legislation regulating breeding and ownership of his type of lawyer when all of this is said and done, though that may ultimately lead to a race of super-solicitors bent on world domination through creative billing practices. HE'S JUST THAT GOOD. And I want my Gary Puckett albums back. Are MP3s OK? Absolutely not. MP3, the catamite of audio. The cat peed on the vinyl, and now I don't want to touch it. Imagine my surprise. You said the same thing during our entire relationship. I gave you the best hours of my life, and this is the thanks I get. Story of my life. Always a bride, never an altar boy. I could scan them and embed them as album art for you, so you wouldn't really be missing out on anything other than ownership of the (cat-****-soaked) records. And I want my Gary Puckett albums back. Are MP3s OK? Absolutely not. MP3, the catamite of audio. You know, Pete, this is one area in which we agree. MP3s *are* the catamite of audio. Pegs on a fence are likely involved, too. But they are the format I have used. Yes, I know - there are many far-superior alternatives - but the ubiquity of support for the format means that if I wish to enjoy the soothing sounds of Ethel Merman or the comedy stylings of Gilbert Gottfried via a multiplicity of devices, it is the format I must use. Why would you deny me my music as you have denied our destiny? Can I not keep at least that one small comfort? WHY MUST YOU ROB ME OF EVERYTHING, RENDING MY HEART IN THE PROCESS? I am reaching out to you, Pete. Those MP3s are a token of my affection. If ever our time together meant anything to you, you will understand this. The cat peed on the vinyl, and now I don't want to touch it. Imagine my surprise. You said the same thing during our entire relationship. I gave you the best hours of my life, and this is the thanks I get. I do not control the cat's urinary activities; this was explained up front. You seemed OK with it, and the time to have said otherwise is now long past. The wonder of those hours cannot heal the wounds I am afflicted with now. Story of my life. Always a bride, never an altar boy. Look, I bought you the outfit - and as far as I am aware, it still hangs unsullied in your wardrobe. No, I don't want it back; the memories it would bring with it are too painful to face. But its pristine condition is entirely attributable to your refusal to wear it when it was presented to you (in a rather nice velvet-lined wooden box, I might add). Much like the cat and his mictural activities, that is something entirely beyond my control. Just because we're having a tiff doesn't mean that I should have to compromise my principles. Principles my ass. Use a sock. I can't. You took them all with you. - J. |

OE dosent run on a Mac. Oh, but it does - there have been versions of it under both MacOS and OS X. Thankfully, Entourage has replaced it these days, though some would say that's not necessarily an improvement. Anyway, your headers indicate that you're using Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.3598; if I'm not mistaken, that's the version of Outlook Express that shipped with Windows XP Service Pack 2. So we can infer that you're a Service Pack and a crapload of patches and hotfixes behind current - or maybe you just really like that specific release of Outlook Express, and went to great lengths to make sure that it survived subsequent updates. Either way, either one of those things pretty much nullifies your opinion regarding matters of a technical nature. - J. Yes it is old, but it still works just fine. Have fun with your Entourage thingy. |

Most folks go the VM route these days, though there are some cases where only a dual-boot scenario works for certain things. But for the absolute ne plus ultra in Outlook Express experiences, nothin' beats running it under Windows. It's just so completely in its element. - J. Anyone here use Agent? Is it worth paying for the full version or just getting the old Free Agent 2.0? |

It just doesn't happen to agree with your own. If what he's using works for him, his opinion is as valid as your own. If he doesn't like Macs, his opinion is as valid as your own. There are significant numbers of individuals here who agree with him. Some, with more technical expertise than yours. There was a member of this newsgroup, now passed on, who preferred Win 98. It worked for him, got him where he needed to go. That the rest of the world disowned Win 98 a decade ago was of no consequence. As for his technical expertise...He could hold his own in UNIX, OpenBSD, Windows (through 7), Mac and Linux. And was a developer for a number of them. He just happened to prefer Win 98. I have no idea why. Nor is it relevant. He must have been a glutton for punishment. ;-) Had ME on a computer once shudder. |

My recollection is that Free Agent was decent years ago, but I really have no idea what the current state of play is with it. Check out Thunderbird 3; it's free and a decent NNTP client. As an added bonus, it'll also handle your email quite well. http://www.mozillamessaging.com/thunderbird . - J. |
