Is there a lousier radio station than Radio Cairo?

Have them on 6270 right now (Monday 2-7-2011, 0220z), decent strength
signal (S5-7), only minor fading here in California, by rights it
should be at least an 80% copy - but it might as well be dead air -
not the slightest peep of modulation at all. What a bunch of
knuckleheads.

I don't think they want to be heard. At least not in English. I have
heard the Spanish service many times but when its time for English,
its dead carrier time. Can you imagine wasting that much electricity.
The power it takes to run that 250 KW transmitter would heat a lot of
houses.

Maybe the folks who run it hate the puppet government and its
propaganda too, and laugh as they purposely turn down the modulation
to three per cent.

Maybe they have their tube rotation backwards. They wait until the
finals go soft then put them in the modulator.

Egyptians are known to have used vacuum tubes for millenia ( possibly
the so called Dendera Lights) . Their tubes are 'eternal ' !
