Yesterday's QSL from Ecuador, likewise, came by registered mail, although it was not delayed as far as I can tell. RHCuba keeps threatening (by e-mail) to send a QSL, but they never come. Is there some weird postal rule that stuff coming in from Latin America must be registered or delayed or otherwise? * Does such a rule extend to other nations/continents as well? Any insights appreciated...thanks! Bruce http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/ab_028.htm#ep7147669-Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Brasilia sent me a QSL letter and some tourist info. *It came registered, and bore the written evidence of delays and returns all over it. *Sheesh. The most obnoxious thing I send anywhere is a cassette tape / CD-Rom with an audio recording on it. *If that counts as prohibited "used consumer goods," well - I don't know what to say. Bruce BpnJ, The CT/CD could contain encoded data on it and sending it to a Foreign Country + Have You Ever Sent Emails to a Foreign Country ? + Have You Ever Made Phone Calls to a Foreign Country ? -could- Mean that your are a 'Spy' {Foreign Agent} -question- Did Your Every Post Anything About Hearing/Listening To A Shortwave [HF] Radio {Secret} Numbers Station ? THEN YOU ARE MOST LIKELY ON A WATCH LIST ! -or- Do you own a Shortwave Radio ? Do you regulary Post to Newsgroups ? Do you still call Newsgroups 'UseNet' ? {Sleeper Agent!} Do you have a technical/scientific training/background ? Then Most Likely You Are Listed As A Potential IED a/o WMD 'Expert' -and-a- THREAT TO NATIONA SECURITY -(o)-big-sis-is-watching-you-big-sis-is-watching-you-(o)- you... you you you evil shortwave radio listener you ~ RHF |

Any insights appreciated...thanks! Bruce I know Cuban hams mostly use QSL managers in Spain. I've got 5 or 6 QSL cards from Cuba, but none have come direct. (Either from Spain or the US for Guantanamo Bay). I had a QSO with Arnie Coro a few weeks back and am waiting to see if he sends a QSL card. I guess I will try sending one to him and see what happens (and see what they say at the post office). Jim(MI)- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Hmmm - Interesting, could be a clue. *I know RHC gets my mail - they read my letters on the air, and I get e-mails back from them with contests and stuff. It appears, however, that it may be a one-way street, for now. *At this point, I'd be quite happy with an e-QSL. Bruce BpnJ, -m-a-y-b-e- Radio Habana Cuba uses a 'Water-Mark'* on their real genuine Paper QSL Certificates. * 'Water-Mark' -example- |

It suppose it all goes back to 'country of origin', and the folks in Costa Rica may not want 'their' mail held up because of U.S. 'suspicions' of what may or not be in the mail from Cuba. dxAce Michigan USA Well, as Jim mentioned, lots of Cuban hams use Spain (QSL managers) as intermediaries. Makes sense to me. |
