What was 'interesting' to me was that some used
moderate cost 'portable' AM/FM Shortwave Radios
with relatively short/small Random Wire Antennas
of around ~10m :about: 33 Feet. :o) ~ RHF

In an RF-quiet place, this is probably sufficient.
