That's not true. You can't rebuild with unreinforced masonry, etc., but
there are plenty of earthquake resistant ways to put up a building.

TO Dave The Prime-minister of N.Z. said the following :
" ...parts of the city may have to be abandoned " . The same place
got hit twice in four months !
