You could call it "some kind of rain event." What it was was a full months
rain in a matter of a few hours. We were out IN that carp.. places on the
freeway had as much as 10" deep rivers as we were on our way into the city.
Although, this little gullywasher wasn't near as bad as one we had back in
2002, where dozens were killed by drowning and/or electrocution in several
villages north of Seoul (which, BTW, is where the majority of the damage
occurred this time also.) On our way home, we had to drive through the
remnants of a mudslide that covered the southbound lanes of the freeway with
flotsam and mire for more than a kilometer. It would have been much worse,
but the guard rail kept most of the large stuff (there was someone's storage
shed slammed against it) from reaching the freeway.

The static band of showers ran pretty much west to east in an area on the
north end of Asan Bay (south of Seoul) into the southernmost part of the
DPRK, and it just stayed there dumping out trillions of gallons of water for
most of the day. Meanwhile, here in Pyeongtaek, we got only a fraction as
much rain during the same time, about 3".

With Global Warming multiply by 10. A one foot rise in sea level makes
you lose 10' of coastline. A hundred year flood happens once or twice
every decade.

I thought Camp Casey was outside Bush's ranch...
