My first [legal] car was a '56 Cadillac. It had the best AM radio I ever
had. Crank windows, too. Threw a timing chain and left it in Salinas
back in'73.

You should have sold the Flivver and the Willy's and bot the Dodge.

Possibly you are overlooking the fact that "they done made them so
fancy" that a 150,000 or 200,000 mile life is not uncommon, a feat
rarely matched by the old beaters. Generally speaking, the new cars
don't need a shade tree mechanic.

Ain't it the truth? Most of them look like eggs on wheels with the
same style headlights and tail lights. I love watching classic car
auctions on TV. There were great looking cars in the 50's, 60's, and
70's. Sadly, today they sacrifice style and class for aerodynamics.

I do my own tuneups, brakes, body maintenance, etc. There's not much
else to do on a 100% made in Japan car. I will need to split the engine
in 2 at 100K to replace the timing belts and water pump. But that's the
curse of getting 175 HP out of a motor the size of a carryon bag.
