While scanning the 25 meter SWBC band, I noticed some strange signals
between 1830 and 1930 UTC. Sounded like time pulses every other second
when compared to WWV. Strong in both AM and USB, only barely audible
in LSB or lower sync. Incredible range of // oddball frequencies:
11098.5, 11220.7, 11342.1, 11587.1, 11648.1, 11709.2, 11892.5,
11953.5, 12105 (underneath WTWW), 12136.6, 12190.1, 12228.2, 12442.1,
12503, 12533.6, 12686.3. I finally gave up, so there are probably
more. Some frequencies might be off by 100 Hertz, since i was using an
old Sony ICF-2010. Also, some were incredibly strong, others sounded
further away.

Any ideas?

1. With really good propagation, some of the various shortwave
maritime surveillance radars might be showing up for far away.

2. I'm getting a bunch of crap on the higher bands these days, but it's
local. The last time I tracked down this particular crud, my closest
guess was either an ultrasonic rodent repeller or some construction
equipment battery charger. Didn't feel like knocking on doors and
asking my neighbors if they had a bad rat problem. I remember reading
some ads for pest repellers where they bragged about the extra added
electromagnetic radiation feature.

3. It's that season when your neighbors are draping their eaves with
well lit interference antennas.

Blinking Christmas lights? Take the 2010 for a drive around your
neighborhood and maybe you'll find the culprit. Who knows, maybe
they'll QSL.

neighborhood and maybe you'll find the culprit. Who knows, maybe they'll
QSL.

Look for a new switch mode power supply in the house (they are usually L
shaped and say Efficiency 4 (IV) or 5 (V)

Maybe a harmonic of a CODAR buoy?
Fading could be due to time of day conditions.
