Take a look at Blackcat Systems. They have several that address specific
digital transmissions, although no one program that does many of them.

But, if you want to address the majority of the digital signals out there
you are pretty much going to need a PC, not an iPad. Even then you will
need multiple programs to get the majority of signals. Even with very high
end software there are still some holes in the coverage. And no matter what
you get some, even many, signals will be encrypted, and not decodable. So
there are always going to be some things you just can not decode.

Hello,

Have a WinRadio Excalibur, and have just gotten a new iPad.
Lots of fun.

I do hf listening only up to 30 MHz; no transmitting.
Just the listening.

Have just about given up with the digital "stuff" as I've never been
able to successfully do it.

Anyway, I've looked, but could not find any.

Are there any Sw radio Apps for the iPad that you folks know of, and
possibly use ?
Quite a few for picking up the scanner freqs but could not find any
for sw usage.

Thanks,
Bob

Do you run virtual audio cable on the iPad?

Is VAC even available for the iPad? More importantly, would you need it on
the iPad?

I often just use the iPad mic and put it near a portables speaker, but you
can use the line in also. If I am going to do more than that, work with
line level audio from any of the radios, for example, I am on a PC, not the
iPad.

If you have a real computer you can do this:

I have read about people trying to use VAC with the iPad usually
without success.

I use an i5 laptop with the Excalibur and VAC, MMSSTV and a PSK
decoder I don't recall at the moment. All work, but it is a headache
to switch software and connections. VAC makes it a lot easier but can
still be tough if you are trying to catch a pirate or clandestine.

Does DRM stand for dead radio method or dropouts really miserable?

Unless you want to listen to Disco Palace or Vatican Radio, I see this
disappearing instead of expanding. What happens when Sackville shuts
down - does DRM lose this relay site also?

This is a case of supply / demand where you have neither. Why not
reduce the license fee. Maybe that will spark some interest and make a
DRM radio cost effective to manufacture.
