The Intertubes get us to long-distances and talking about that rather than radio. In North America we live in a (looking-inward) media culture. Living overseas and in the middle of another continent is another story. We need "foreign" radio because local media is another language, or dull. So we turn up the shortwave for any other media. |

Many services have dropped the entire Usenet service. Google bought DejaNews. Another monopoly. Otherwise web-interfaces the the Usenet are the only resource for many. (You thought that you were use the Internet, and didn't use TIN, NN, Pine or other Usenet reader?) |
