Grundig YB 400PE questions

Anyone know how to get dust off the inside of the display screen? I don't
see an easy way to get at it.

Anyone have it complain about battery problems and not work when not
connected to AC when all six AA cells check good?

A quick Google didn't turn anything up.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You know it's time to clean the refrigerator
when something closes the door from the inside.

You may need to reset the processor. Take the batteries out, leave
them out for a couple of hours, When you put them back, you should be fine.

IIRC, there's a reset button in the bottom of the speaker grill that
may this for you.

As far as dust....you'll have to take the chassis out and wipe or
blow the dust out.

I have one with a spider, which squeaked through the cracks as a
newly hatched, and grew too big to leave, and died there...Right in my
display on a Sat 700.

I can't help with your questions but I have one of these. However, I once used the wrong 9v AC adapter. It made a harsh noise and now doesn't make a sound. Everything works: light, display, auto tuner, but no sound, with or without headphones. I keep it because I think one day I'll figure what I fried and will replace it but I most likely lack the requisite skill.

My display is fine, but to clear out the displays on my Grundig Satellit
500 and 700s, I had to take it apart, and remove the electronics, then
clean the plastic. COme to think of it, I might have done that with the
400 too.

I have opened the 400, I dont' think there was any difficulty getting to
the display. The buttons will be loose if you remove the electronics, so
be careful not to lose them. And take a photo before you start, so you
know which order they go back in.

I had some 2500mAh nimHs that I used with my YB400, and they were awful.
They just didnt' hold a charge, and the radio didn't operate unless the
batteries supplied enough voltage. So watch that in case you weren't
using alkaline batteries. I never used it enough with alkalines to see if
there was a similar problem, but it is always possible the radio is fussy
about battery voltage, so they might "appear" to be okay but not enough
voltage for the radio.
