Here's my situation. I have an Icom R75. The DSP is installed, but that is
the extent of any upgrades done. I must say, although it is a very good
receiver, my old R71A is more listener friendly. By that I mean it is easier
to listen to for extended periods of time. So, I am considering selling the
R75 and getting myself a Satellit 800. I need advice from any of you
fortunate enough to own both the Icom and the Grundig at the same time, and
your assessments of their qualities in a side by side comparison. Any and
all comments welcome and very much appreciated.

Do believe a few people in this group own both R-75's AND Sat 800's

I own both. Both are used daily. The R75 is better for DX and the SAT800 is
better for program listening from major broadcasters. They are very different
radios. One should choose based off of their own listening habits - don't
expect to hear everything on a SAT800 that you can dig out with the R75.
