Yada, yada, yada.....

Yeah...anyone not smart enough to spend their lives locked in a safe
room with bottled water and forever food and a gazillion rounds of
ammo deserves to die(?)

The government can't protect us from everything, but it should try to
protect us from some things. Particularly the most dangerous things.
And being able to communicate directly with the citizenry can go a
long way towards minimizing casualties.

The EAS is an important part of that. But having someone in direct
control of the station and can repeat and update inforation while the
emergency workers work on the emergency is clearly the best solution.

As far as tiny audiences go...when the 3 or 6 or 10 listeners start
calling people, yelling, whatever, along with the sirens...I'm sure
the ratings will shoot up REAL quick.

Broadcasters have the right to use a limited universal resource to
make a lot of money. I don't begrudge them that...I want to do it
myself someday. At the same time, common sense says they owe at least
a little bit to society...if nothing else than to keep their audience
alive so they can continue to listen.
