LaMar Not yet but maybe some day. I will say this, I got XM radio last Saturday and I absolutely LOVE it. I got SO damn sick of all the commercials on regular AM/FM radio I could puke. They can eat me if they think I'm listening to 20-22 minutes of commercials per hour. Screw 'em. When sat radio first came out I said I wasn't interested. I was wrong, it's absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend it. It's well worth the money IMHO. I can't see internet radio taking much away from AM/FM but Sat radio? Yes, in the future unless the regular stations back WAY off on all the commercials and I don't see that happening in the near future.... Sat radio rocks! |

Sat radio rocks!

They may not own much right now, but they have 2 people on the XM
board. On Fri, 11 Jul 2003 20:02:15 -0400, Tom Randy wrote: On Fri, 11 Jul 2003 19:19:15 -0400, Ken Finney wrote: "Super ****ed Dad" wrote in message ... XM is quickly approaching 1 million paying customers. Serius better get with
the program or prepare for a "Fire Sale" as I doubt they will make it. As XM gets bigger...the competition seems to get dimmer and dimmer...Eddie "Tom Randy" wrote in message ... Not the same vibe at all. Real commercials are meticulously crafted
to stimulate specific regions in the brains of ''consumers'' who have been carefully cultivated to respond to the stimulus, since they were small children. They are often insulting the very same people they are motivating. That should tell you something. On Tue, 15 Jul 2003 09:34:58 -0600, gray-beard wrote: Yes I have. What do you think HBO is doing when they show you ten or so previews between the movies? That's right those are COMMERCIALS. Also why do you think they show previews of films that are in theaters now or are coming out soon? You guessed it, more COMMERCIALS. It's ALL about the money. The more they make, the more they want and they will do whatever it takes to get yours. Dave wrote: Ever heard of HBO? On Sat, 12 Jul 2003 05:36:24 -0400, "Robert" wrote: Yeah. You totally miss the point. You must be an AM radio fan.

You don't think a paid-for-broadcast movie trailer constitutes a commercial? Sorry Pal. I'm not in the target demographic and have never watched
''Sex in the City''. Product placement is not commercials. Commercials are scientifically designed little pieces of PsyOps mind control with visual and audio cues to open certain ports in your psyche. They are evil and should be avoided at all costs. If I see a can of Coke in the movies I think: " tooth decay, type II diabetes", and that's that. I don't feel like I'm being screwed with on a sub-conscious level. On Fri, 18 Jul 2003 16:17:15 -0600, gray-beard wrote: No, I think you miss the point. Whether or not you get the "vibe" that it is a commercial, it still is a paid for spot to sell something. When you watch "Sex in The City", the main character opens up her pink Apple Laptop computer for all to see. THAT is a commercial, paid for, by Apple. She then gets with her friends and opens a can of Coke, another commercial this one paid for by Coke-a-cola. Whether they bother you, or not, is not the question. The fact is nothing on TV or Movies anymore just happens. If you see a name brand anything, it is a paid spot, put in that show and paid for by the sponsor. When you see a short show between the movies. You know the ones. A behind the scenes 30 minute exclusive about a movie that is now showing, or about to be released. It may not give you the vibes of a commercial, but HBO or Showtime, or whoever is showing it, either gets a direct payment or gets that same movie for a reduced price when released to cable. It's all about money. GB Dave wrote: You totally miss the point. You must be an AM radio fan. On Thu, 17 Jul 2003 08:02:35 -0400, "Robert" wrote: "Dave" wrote in message ... Not the same vibe at all.
