review for SW RadioShack 20-0280

Has anybody used RadioShack's SW active
antenna, RS 20-0280 ? How well does it work ?

Cordially,

yes, i have three of them in the drawer where i keep all my radio stuff.
they closed out at about $5. (i kept buying them thinking that the first
must be faulty and certainly the next one would be better) they work,
but ANY kind of outdoor wire works better, even a wire laid right on the
ground! it picks up and amplifies any little electronic racket in the
house. the only configuration where i try to use one is with the dx390
(its almost deaf anyway so it tolerates the gain) and then only when
camping (far away from electronic interference) using it with the dx 399
or dx 402 is useless. for the 5 bucks its a handy little amp for when
you might need one, if i had paid full price i would not be impressed at
all. i have been thinking about trying it with a loop antenna but i
havent yet.
