FRG-7 swr needs repair...........
has a summerkamp label....wondering if there is anybody here in this
group that could recommend a repair person to go through a unit with the schematics/instruction manual in hand? i have the schematic.... mine was near a lightning strike and won't play since. i took it to a local radio shop and they kept it for months.....then returned it and all it did was play local am stations and not very well at that.......i'd like to get it back to working condition....would appreciate knowlegeable suggestions.......am in southeastern usa..... regards |
It's impossible to give any "knowledgeable suggestions" without actually seeing/testing the receiver. At xxx $ (an hour) you could let a technician do the seeking/ solving/ fixing that would probably cost you more than getting another mint used FRG-7 set ... But it's a great radio well worth having! A tough and sturdy design from what I have learnt. If your radio is defective , chances are it's a minor (but fatal) flaw. If it's a more serious flaw, (who knows?) it's a tough decision to take it any further .... From what I have learnt ,if it's defective (and you don't have the "knowledge") - leave it for the spare parts... Only my 2 Cents worth ...... I would love a chance to ressurect a dead or semi-dead SW radio. Particularly an SR-7. Just an idea, in case you are interested. Dave Beane NOTE that the email address in the headers is INACTIVE. |
