Ah -- you can rent an AntEater at Rentals Are Us

Seriously -- goto google http://www.google.com/
Type in Ant Extermination -- get lots of solutions.
Home Depot and others sell the "Clobber Da Ants" stakes etc.

I don't have a problem with ants in the yard -- poor guys gotta be
somewhere.
But keepin them outta the house is a different matter.

You also might search google for the benefits that certain ants may perform.

Burr, boiling water poured over and in the hills will kill them. Might
take more than a kettle or two, though.

The Dawn Soliloquy July 18th 03 09:30 PM

I just lost three cherished Cherry trees to ANTS! And the bastadards (the
ants, not the Cherry trees) are eating my Silver Maple.

I have a friend that is a professional pest exterminator. He came over,
sprayed the entire yard as if he were watering it, and for a week now I
haven't see ANY insects in the yard.

He couldn't treat the tree, but he did place bait for the ants. In one of the
holes he put some granule bait and later when I looked into the hole, I
observed an ant carrying a granule at a time and throwing it out of the hole.
I fixed his tiny posterior by screening the hole with fine mesh, the ants that
were in there can't get out, the ants that eventually return can't get in.
There is quite a pile of ants lying dead on the inside of the screen.

Otherwise, boom, all gone, the wonders of chemicals. Use them carefully,
prevent children, unsuspecting adults, and pets from contacting the area for
the proscribed time, and endeavor to limit the accessibility of wildlife to
the chemical agents.

Regards.

Never say never.
Nothing is absolute.

Burr July 18th 03 10:40 PM

Hey Joe,
I'm in Sunny Southern California Deserts.

Ridgecrest, Ca. It's 114.8° right now and that's about it for today.
My yard is a sand pile, can't afford water to water it out here, I do
have 18 Rose Bushes on a drip system.
The ants are no where close to the bushes or house but they have a
trail going across my yard (sand pile) from there hole to the lot next door.

I would like to do something one hole is years old but now I have three.

There is 10 times more ant flesh on the planet than human flesh

Are you suggesting we EAT them?
Didn't somebody offer chocolate-covered ants for a while?

In any event, I suugest living on a houseboat.

Karl Graff July 19th 03 02:40 AM

A few(6-10) firecrackers stuffed into the hole and detonated will get many,
and it'll be fun to watch!

Borax - buy it at any Grocery or Home store...

Also, I've always wondered what dropping a dump truck full of dirt on
top of a Fire ant hole would do. They would surely be trapped. Or
would they?

I can vouch for this... it works. I usually dilute it with some water and
pour it down the hole. They won't build one in that spot again for a long
time. Borax is also the active ingredient in Terro Ant Killer syrup, which
is the best (indoor) ant killer I've yet used.

Fire ants ( or most insects) would just dig their way out . . .

How could an ant dig there way up a dump truck full of dirt - say like
4 ft. high or so. No - don't think so. And it would be too wide for
them to go sideways - they'd have to dig several yards horizontally
then come up. I think this method will work. And I thought of it.
Is there a Nobel prize for fighting ants?

RHF July 22nd 03 02:05 AM

BB,

You are 'thinking' like a Human. The GI (Group Intelligence) Ants are
not human they are Insects and the Live and Think like any group of
'collective insects' that exist in a hive or colony social
environment.

Its not simply 'one' "ANT" it is a Colony of GI Ants that are going to
try and survive by going up, down and around if needed to keep the GI
Ant Colony Alive. The GI Ants will fight until the last one dies
trying to get to food and water to maintain the colony.

SMHL,

Now there is an Idea !

Use three PVC Pipes with a heavy wire inside and run RF out to two of
them and Ground the third one. Rotate the RF pairing and the ground:
1/2&3; 2/3&1; 3/1&2.

Electro-Fry the GI Ants with RF Energy.
- NO Harmful Pesticides
- - NO Environmental Toxins
- - - NO Hazardous Waste
FRIED ANTS!!! Anyone :o)

BURR,

In the Desert there is nothing you can really do about GI Ants.

But you can change your attitude about the Ants.

Get three long white poles with little flags on them and stick them in
the Ant Holes.

Tell everyone that you have a "GI Ant Three Hole Golf Course" :o)

I am saddened by the viciousness shown towards the animal kingdom's
proletarian vanguard. Ants are oppressed workers just like men --
giving their labor and lives to support a degenerate ruling elite.

The workers of all kingdoms must show solidarity, not hostility! To
you the ants have invaded your yard. From the ants point of view, you
have invaded their land with your house. Do you think they are
plotting ways to exterminate you? Surely not.

Unite, comrades! We have a world to win and nothing but chains to
lose!
