IMO, a good amateur multi-band vertical might do you.

Moneys no option. -- 73 Brian Hill Brian's Radio Universe http://home.jps.net/~jonnysocko/ I'm using an AT-271/A with a 9:1 matching transformer and a 30db avantek preamp with an aor 7030+ for my camping and vacation setup. It performs quite well. The preamp came out of the flea at MIT. The antenna itself came from: http://www.american-milspec.com/c765.html This setup has a lot of gain, so for frequencies below about 9mhz, I generally switch in 10db of attenuation to avoid overloading the radio. I wouldn't use this as a permanently mounted antenna as it has multiple sections, and I'm not sure how they'd weather. For permanent use, I'd use something like a 102" cb antenna whip. |
