You were more than likely listening to 8983 USB which is a Coast Guard aero frequency. They are also quite active on 5696 USB. If propagation is good, or depending upon your location, CAMSPAC POINT REYES in California can also be heard. Generally you'll hear the stations working Coast Guard helicopters and other CG aircraft. I'm on the east side of the mountains, wonder what might fall over the mountains. As we speck I am picking up some "rumble" on 5696k. Someone please send me a list of CG freq.'s for the west coast and south west coast. In the winter I also get Kodiak. I am in SoCal.
