"Frank Dresser" wrote in message ... Ezra Pound! Now we're back on topic. Ezra Pound was a poet, populist, conspiratorialist, and virilant anti-semite. He was found to be too nutty to stand trial for treason. He was also a Shortwave broadcaster. Why is it that all the nuts, screwballs, anti-semites and quasi-religious mental patients always seem to gravitate to the broadcast medium of shortwave radio...? I mean, there has to be a (semi-rational ?) reason for this. Is there? It's cheap and pretty much unregulated. If an AM talk jock made the type of comments that Hal Turner made, there would be immediate outrage and he'd be fired. But since SW has such a small listener base, and since it's so big (2300 to 22000 khz as compared to 520 to 1710 khz or 88.1 to 107.9 Mhz) Hal and his comrades could go unnoticed for quite a while. The only reason Hal went off the air is because he ran out of money. Also, that small listener base means that time on SW goes for peanuts (WRMI sells air for $1 a minute!) so that people without a lot of $ such as Paytriots and Jew haters can easily afford it. |
