My old Passport is out of date now, and I hear an Indonesian station on
4.790 at 12:55 with a decent signal, with oriental music. Passport lists R.
Republik Indonesia from Fak Fak, Papua. I have not seen anything else in
other listings. Any thoughts ?

That's the only thing I see reference for at that time, too. 1000
watts - speaks really well for your receiver/antenna setup.

It could be them, best way to find out is usually at the TOH as they ID.
Passport has an error there with the mention of Papua. The town of Fak Fak is
in the province of Irian Jaya. Papua would be a reference to the other half of
the island, i.e. Papua New Guinea.

Aha, I wondered about that. I think they must be using more than 1000 watts,
based on the quality of the signal. Passport also says it is temporarilly
inactive. Some of the Indonesian stations have really lousy audio. It is
like they think that cranking the audio amplification all the way up will
make the signal stronger S. I don't speak Indonesian, but as with any
foreign language, george bush still comes out the same, regardless of the
accent LOL.

As long as I'm here, and you eyeballs are open s:

4.870 R. Diff. Du Benin, Cotonou or Sri Lanka BC Corp. 10:00 utc
Sri Lanka comes in well here usually with good music, but I am curious about
the signal from Benin - has anyone ever heard them ?

I have not, no. ILG lists all the Benin broadcasts as "inactive" at
the moment (as of 22 Aug, 2003) but it can only be as current as it's
last publication date, of course.
