In addition to the internal and external shots of Cullercoats radio I
put on my web site a few days ago I have added 9 shots of the remote TX
site at East Hartley.
This site is still home to the Navtex transmissions on 518 & 419 KHz
using the Cullercoats Callsign.
Nice pix by McCallum...makes me want to visit on an autumn
afternoon or hear the signal on a dark and squally night watch. What a
transmitter tone! Surprized more stations didn't use their tone
modulation for corroborative station ID the way U.S. railroad of the
early deisel era used with whistle tones to identify the road by ear.
