RF Systems MTA Antenna

Does anyone have any experience with this antenna?

I guess I'll just have to purchase one of these antennas to find out how
well it'll perform!

yep I use one on my R75, and it works amazingly well.
Very low noise, which helps a lot with weaker signals. Before
I used a 70' wire with MLB and always had a noise level of
at least S-1 to S-3 or more. After I put up the MTA, most
of the time there is usually no indication of noise on the S meter
at all, just signals.

Jeff,

Thanks for your response!
I am planning to purchase a MTA along with a Grundig Satellit 800 radio.
Where and how do you have yours installed?
Where did you purchase it?

Jeff,

How well does this antenna perform on MW?
Are you using any lightning protection in your install?

I have mine on a mast pipe about 20' high. The mast is grounded
to a grd rod at its base. The stainless mounting part of the bracket is at
ground potential thru the built in MLB so the whole thing is at grd.
potential right at the antenna. I had ordered one thru Universal,,
but the day after I ordered it I saw one on R.R.swap for sale for 100$
I bought it and cancelled the order thru Universal, it was in like new
condition so I lucked out. Thats the only one FS Ive seen on the NG's
Ive never tried ebay. I dont use any lightning protection, if storms are in
the forecast I just unplug the coax from the radio. It works vey well on
MW, I use a small low powered AM station 100 miles away as my
bench mark. With my 70' longwire I would get it at an S-3 or so, but
with the noise it wasnt very listenable. With the MTA I get it at about
S-5 to S-7 with no noise, so its very listenable. If you have limited
space problems like I have you wont be sorry. You could probably
put it in the corner of a room if you had to. It should work very well
with your Sat. 800.

Jeff,

This sounds like an awesome SW/MW antenna, based upon your reception
results!
I will be able to mount the antenna approx. 55' in the air, so I expect
to get good results too.
Thanks again for the info, you've been very helpful! Now I'm anxious to
get my new radio and antenna!

Larry
