Radio Shack SW closeout prices?
 

I stumbled across a Radio Shack store out in the boonies
that still had the following SW radios that were discontinued
nearly a year ago. I cant recall the prices RS closed them
out for can someone remind me? Thanks!
All are new in the box.

Someone called in to one of the SW patriot shows today (Thu, 16 Oct) and said
that Shack was selling those now for $49.95. I know it is NOT in the latest
flyer at any price.

These are the prices off the RS Computer as of Oct. 29, 2002 [that's
right: 2002, not 2003]:

DX-396 is at $29.97 20-226 equivalent to Sangean ATS-xxx
DX-397 is at $19.97 20-227 " Sangean ATS-xxx
DX-398 is at $99.97 20-228 " Sangean ATS-909
DX-399 is at $39.97 20-229 " Sangean ATS-606 or Siemens RK-759
DX-402 is at $69.97* 20-230 " Sangean ATS-505

And for those AM DXers out there, the word I have is that the AM loop
antenna (15-1853/1501853) is discontinued. It is no longer available
through the website, and can be found only in the stores until all
gone. Current price on this antenna is $19.99.

* As of late November, the DX-402 is $49.97. The AM loop also
continued to drop in price.

These prices were good at the stores owned by Radio Shack. Affiliate
stores can set their own prices; i.e., they need not honor the prices
in Radio Shack sales flyers or sell items for the discontinued price.


Thanks if I get any of these radios I will see if they will come
down to those prices or close to it. I did get an AM loop on
closeout, works pretty good too. I may see if they have another one.

You're welcome, but no research was necessary. That's a text file that
I've had on my hard drive for about a year now. I pull it out on those
occasions when someone inquires about the prices or SKU numbers of
discontinued RS SW radios.

Note that there are Yahoo! groups for at least a few of these radios.
