Acknowledging the impact on DoD suppliers, the department plans to host an RFID Summit for Industry in February 2004. The RFID policy and implementation strategy will be finalized by June 2004. Ya Walmart and the rest of the big retailers will be doing it soon too. Makes taking in a replenishment shipment in a breeze. Checkout will also be easy to the point of duplicating the functions of the cashier except for taking money and handing over a bag and receipt. Side effect is the RFID stays in the product for life. Not sure what that might imply, but potentially every store you shop could know where you have been shopping. Endtimes ministries on 7315 khz @ 0200 UTC is pretty freaked out about it. They say its the mark of the beast. But they also say Rome and the Catholic Church are end times Babylon, so go figure. |
