Thanks for the suggestion, but my family has tried donating virtually
-thousands- of books and magazines to the libraries in 4 or 5 surrounding
towns during the past several years (trying to disperse of massive book
collections from deceased relatives), but the response has always been "we
already have too many books for the limited space available."

It's a nice idea, but we have to face the fact that libraries are rapidly
falling out of favor due to the advance of the Internet. At least 3
neighboring towns have voted down expansion $ for local libraries in the
past couple of years, citing pervasion of the Internet as the reason.

We had a yard sale for the past 2 Saturdays; we got rid of about 200 books
(mostly hard cover) at 10c each, but I will be bringing about 800 to the
recycling center this weekend, plus all of the magazines I don't have room
for any longer. It's sad, indeed.

Thanks again.
