R-2000 RIT Mod
Back in 1986 I bought a Kenwood R-2000 receiver. Shortly thereafter I
studied the circuit schematics and devised a way to convert the tone control pot. into a RIT control. I sold the receiver in 1990 and now cannot remember how I did the mod. and of course have no schematics to look at. Seems like I cut a diode, disabled the operation of the tone pot. and then ran a new wire from the tone pot. to somewhere nearby to another component or TP. This would have been a mod. done underneath and towards the front of the receiver. Does anyone remember this mod? I freely circulated it to various SWL's and clubs like NASWA before the Internet existed and I hoped that I could locate the mod. on the Internet but to no avail. I inadvertently mentioned the mod. on the "Shortwaves" e-group and of course opened mouth and inserted foot, because many R-2000 receiver owners are now clamoring for the mod. Any help would be appreciated because the RIT mod. really makes the R-2000 a better receiver especially on digital modes. -- 73, Thomas F.
