Sony ICF-6500W
Here's a Sony ICF-6500W receiver up on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tegory=15 051 They were a decent enough portable, I had one for about 10 years, I wore it out I used it so much. I think I payed $100 for mine on close-out from Universal. As I said, it was a decent enough portable, but not so sure about the $249.00 price! According to DXING.COM: New Price: $210-270 Used Price: $100-130. I dunno where he got his absurdly high asking price. Looks like he did a little research on the web as he stole the description *verbatim* from: http://www.dxtools.com/BestDXrx.htm (scroll down into the "Portables") |
Price too high for this item by about 175 bucks these days.

The way the auction is setup, you'd be foolish to bid on it. The buy it
now is the same as the starting bid. I think it's a bit pricey though. "N8KDV" wrote in message ... That's awfully expensive, but as I recall some recent eBay auctions of 6500Ws went for nearly that much. It must be nostalgia. That said, I still have mine, bought in the early eighties on close-out for about $70. It's used infrequently but does have nice audio. I keep it in my boys' room, hoping to spark a shortwave interest at some point. Speaking of radios, I noticed that Britain's Prince Philip appears to be a shortwave fan: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...20/nque220.xml I'm guessing that this is the Roberts R871, which is in that price range. ---- |
