news:cWV2ZXJ5.5bb39690f2b975b214e4375d3487a44a@107 1005620.cotse.net: Membership is only $15 a year. http://www.rara.org/ Hmmmmm...... The subject says "everyone" please join, as if this is some group oriented toward inclusiveness; however, the stated purpose (via the link Kevin provided) says it's only for "...all individuals who are supportive of sexual minorities and their lifestyles......". Not very inclusive, is it? Would you like to know who belongs to this group before you consider joining? Sorry, not possible, according to the website: "The roster is confidential and distribution outside of the membership is prohibited." So, they'll take your membership money, but you can't find out who else is a member until you join, and then, you have to keep those names a secret. Just what we didn't need, another secret society. Even Kevin's email address provided in the post is bogus. I would imagine that anonymous posts to join secret societies would go without mnay positive reponses. This might explain why though claim they've been around for almost 9 years, and haven't been able to recruit but 100 members. Of course, it could be they HAVEN'T been around for 9 years. This post (again by Kevin) claims he's TRYING TO START an amateur radio club for gays: http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%2...n&lr=&ie=UTF-8 &oe=UTF-8&selm=3ff20de2.145179266%40oryyfbhqu.arq&rnum=7 this link having today's date, 12/10/03. So, has it been around 9 years, is it getting started today, or is he just starting something to compete with rara? The post referenced above narrows the membership topic even mo "just gay Amateur radio talk". Maybe, just maybe, he's just a troll???????????????? -- Allen McBroom Remove WOOF when replying by email |
