Bah Humbug
The Irony of the major media.
In an attempt to remain in positive spirits (non-alcoholic) for the Christmas/Chanukah season, I have refrained from visiting many of the online news sites that I normally habituate. In lieu of my usually frustrating practice of visiting these depressing news sites, I have resorted to viewing television, concentrating on Christmas type shows. Ah, but therein lies the rub, for it seems that today's shows are in fact more depressing than the news sites. Even with the masquerade of being a Christmas show, the monotony of plots becomes quickly evident. It seems that all children live with single parents, almost exclusively the mother, who had divorced the father usually because he was/is an adulterer, or an alcoholic, or was physically abusive. From watching the commercials, it seems that almost all couples exclusively have girls, of if they have a token boy, he is usually relegated to a non-speaking position, either out of focus or greatly in the background. If one examines the shows themselves, one will notice that the shows are so diverse as to make one sick, often with equal distribution of white women, black men, oriental women and sometimes oriental men, and usually some white men. Now between the commercials and the shows it becomes evident that the people in Hollywood are discriminated based on sex, race, and national origin. For in their zeal to obtain the "right mix" of characters to make the show diverse, they have ignored other qualified people also seeking the roles. Isn't this discrimination? If I am an employer, can I refuse a black man, qualified for the job, in order to hire a white simply because I feel that he better fits the need for the application? You can bet the answer is no. These same people whine about the rest of the country being bigoted and demand that something is done about it, then go on to violate the same principles that they extol. Bah Humbug, not to the Christmas/Chanukah Spirit, but to the politically correct idiots that write modern shows. May everyone have a Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah! Dr. Artuad -- To know and to be, this is not even a question, there is no alternative. You see it clearly in the loneliest little avenues between particles and waves, shunned even by the gregarious quark and unknown by the various strands of time, so big it cannot be seen, yet so little it is immovable, lies the fabric of the ultimate reality gripped in the tiny fist of the all or nothing." |

You need to listen to more shortwave radio. Brother Stair, James Lloyd, Alex Jones. Nothing could be more cheerful! [snip] May everyone have a Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah! Dr. Artuad Hope you've been a good boy this year. Really good! You just might get that Hammarlund SP-600 this year!! Attach your stocking with plenty of extra thumbtacks, just in case.
