Early this morning I was on the computer, hadn't checked any news sites. The TV
was off as well. When I logged off I turned on the YB400 and heard the news of
Saddam's capture via BBC 15190 kHz. I think it's kind of neat that I heard it
on SW first.

DougSlug December 14th 03 05:07 PM

Just in time to include it in the re-election campaign. More likely it is
one of the many Saddam stand-ins so our friend Dubya can wag the dog with
this little tidbit. Anyway, I thought it was bin Laden who we really
wanted...this is just a diversion to make us forget they can't find him.
I'm so glad Dubya spent so much of our resources on finishing up the little
task his daddy started. It's great Dubya's kickin' some ass; too bad it's
not the right one.

Blah, blah, blah, blah.

Reminds me of a dog chasing a bus.
Once you've caught it...... then what ?

re Saddam;
Can't try him.... they'll always say it was a kangaroo court.
Can't kill him..... he'd be a martyr.
Can't keep him.... think of all the
possible terorist "hostage exchange" situations.

Best thing would have been
to quietly shoot him, and tell no one .

True but he just figures your not worth the trouble.

Stinger December 14th 03 08:13 PM

You're exactly right, JJ.

You can be sure that he was videotaped constantly for intelligence purposes
after his capture. They would have had hours of video to choose from, some
of it shot after they got him "bathed and shaved" for an interim I.D.

Yet the few seconds of video they released of him shows him looking pretty
ragged, and cooperating to a very undignified "lice and dental" inspection.

Our psych-ops people are doing it right this time.

He was said to have remarked that he was a "tough but fair" ruler. Wow. I
think he really lived in self-delusion. For me it is another reason that
dictators generally make for bad government.

Interesting how some people see what they want to see. I'm sure you'd
approve of the Fox gang having a "We Got Him" party on the air. It would
certainly be in keeping with their agenda.

Yea like MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC dont have an agenda.
Get real. People "should" be celebrating, this was a bad/evil guy and getting
him alive non the less is a good thing. Its amazing when his 2 kids were
killed, all the above networks whined about them ending up dead. Now
we get the old man alive and their whining about that. No agenda though.

I don't know what news programs you're watching but I didn't see anyone
"whining" about the capture of Sadaam on the networks you mention above.
It's not the job of a news program to "celebrate" a story.

yeah, Ol' Tariq probably had no reason NOT to be honest;
Body language, tatoos on his hands, DNA tests; all him!

NOW when he is interrogated,
we'll find out some very interesting stuff..
Problem is, he should be alive up to & during his trial;
hence the physical to determine his state of health..
- & I wonder what OTHER medical tests they did on him
that they didn't film..

- He did look a bit nervous there...

Nonsense. They don't really give a ****. We should have blown his freaking

head
off. Screw that "martyr" nonsense.

You underestimate the eastern importance of martyrdom. Even if the
insurgents do not like Saddam, they would still have used his death as a
(very effective) rallying cry. For us to have shot him, especially without
him putting up any fight, would have shown the insurgents that the infidels
were nothing more than animals, ripe for the slaughter.
