Icom R71 MW pre-amp enable modifiaction problem
Hi all
Has anyone performed the R71 pre-amp enable mod for frequencies below 1600 Khz, as described in Don Moman's excellent performance manual? It states in the manual that to enable the pre-amp for MW, it is necessary to clip diode D23. I did this but instead of enabling the pre-amp for MW, it seemed to disconnect the S-meter. Anyone else had this problem? Once I resoldered the diode ends together, the S-meter worked as normal. Was the board layout changed for different versions? I don't know when my R71E was manufactured, but it has the old Icom logo and the PBT control. Cheers Andy |
My brother has one of them. I think that he somehow disconnected the
transistor that enables the MW attenuator. Pete Andy Bown wrote in message m...
