Hi Folks , I am planning to buy a portable/desktop shortwave radio. From your experience i would be glad to know if u can tell me which are the best shortwave radios available . I read that some of the names are mentioned in the Passprt to World Band radio book , but i do not have it now. Ur replies will be highly appreciated. Regards John If you mean a desktop receiver that is also portable, try to find a used Drake-SW8 with a serial number that starts with a '6' or higher. That would be the improved model. They go for about $500. The Grundig Sat-800 is also a large desktop/portable based on the circuitry of the SW8. It sells new for about $500 but I would recommend getting a factory refurbished one for $400. These are checked out by Drake. Otherwise the field is wide open if you want a desktop 'or' portable, but not both. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |
