crank/solar sw radio, is this a new item?

Anyone have info about the Infomate digital tuning
sw radio... crank, solar, battery and ac powered
http://www.wisementrading.com/radios/solar.htm

I've never seen it before. Is it new? Tested?
The URL above says it has Toshiba components.

Sanjaya:

- Looks like the $89 digital solar crank radio is really a $49.95 Kaito KA105
playing dress up in Jungle Camouflage

( See below)

IMHOI, the Kaito KA105 is smaller, handier, looks better;
& if you have a set of spare batteries for it, your all set

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your reply.
The KA105 has an attractive price, and since the
Infomate only gives 15 minutes play for 1 minute
of cranking I think I'll pass on the it. The other
features are nice, but geez... 15 minutes?

I still believe eventually we'll see a serious performance digital
windup radio. Such a radio was mentioned as "coming up"
in the 2003 Passport (p.104), but I've yet to find anyone who
knows what it meant. Someone told me it was the
Freeplay Summit, but I think that radio was already
available when I got my copy of the 2003 Passport, and from
what I've read it's not a "serious" performing shortwave radio.

I wonder if the faster you crank it the farther it will pull in signals?

- Now this concept can lead one into a myrad possibilities;

- say you're out in the woods in a tent, and you crank it slowly & pick up a
few shortwave stations;

then increase the speed of cranking and pick up low powered, very distant
stations broadcasting on the same frequency.

Now what if, in cranking it faster, it started picking up Frequencies higher up
the Electromagnetic Spectrum.

So, your in the dark, and REALLY Crank it up;
- would the radio waves coalesce into Visible light coming out of the speaker,
like some wavering blue light..?

- and where do Gravity waves come into play ? If the cranking speed increases
sufficienty, will local geographic features start migratinig towards your
radio?

Will your campsite become a funnel shaped affair, with the land plasticizing,
& flowing toward you ?

- Maybe thats why they say only crank it for a few minutes,
these are radios that can disturb the basic fabric of the Universe..!

I received one of the Kaito 007 as a xmas gift, and honestly I am quite
pleased with its performance. It is exactly what it is. A 40.00 radio that
has solar, dyno, and wal wart. The nice thing is that in direct sunlight it
will recharge the internal 1800mAH NiMH (3 AA) batteries pretty good. These
will be pretty easy to replace with some higher capacity ones if/when the
time comes. Gives about 8 hours of play on a 10-12 hours direct sunlight
charge. It will also play directly from the solar panel. But it has to be
"direct" sunlight. The hand dyno is pretty easy to crank, not like the
freeplay witch sent my wrist into "throb mode" pretty quick like. Seems to
be a lot of imaging. Don't know if that is the correct word or not. For
example I hear repeat of some stations over the dial. Especially in MW and
FM. I can and do pick up my local PD and FD. hmmm what else.... it is
small. I like small. I pretty much requested it as a kinda of throw about.
Something that I am not worried about sitting in the trunk of my car. And
it fits the bill.
