All India Radio - Great Reception in Detroit at 13:30 UTC (8:30 EST)

Really strong reception on 13710 kHz this morning (2-Jan). I didn't
know they did this well into North America at this hour.

Yes, they do pretty well up there. Most likely one of the 500 kw
transmitters out of Bangalore.

But why is the audio on the announcer's voices so "washed out". The
music seems to have pretty good fidelity, but the announcers have
horrible fidelity, almost unable to understand what they're saying.
Are their engineers THAT incompetent that they can't clean up the
modulation of the audio?

You'll have ask them! :-)

They boom in here like that too - western washington, Puget Sound area, but
frequently the audio isn't that great for the voice part. Maybe we could
send them a CB power mic or something LOL. I used to get out pretty good
that way. It has been a lot of years since I had a cb g.

AIR has had poor audio for as long as I can remember listening to them,
at least 20-years. They must be aware of it but apparently don't care.
