Another fine day in southern California,

Got Sun Block in my eye but, that's the price we have to pay to live in
85 degree weather

Good weather doesn't offset everything NOT to like about that place. I lived
in California for about a year. I'd move to Afganistan before I went there
again.

If you drop a hammer on your foot, do you pick it up and drop it on the
other one thinking it might be better?

Roger that! I'd even live in Texas first. Hmm... I do.

I spent the first half of my near 74 years in sunny So Cal, and what was out
there that got people to out there for was destroyed by those same people,
beginning about half a century ago.

I also more recently lived in northern California for two or three years. I saw
what was beginning to happen there, too, as, for example, the fruit and nut
orchards and groves were taxed out of business and replaced with more, as
oldtime Californians call tract houses, "weeds."

Bill, K5BY

WShoots1 January 8th 04 04:22 AM

One more...

The Californians as people are pretty good, though. I can relate to them.

In fact, to some -- a few of my kids and kin -- I am related.

Freaks, fruits and nuts in a far higher percentage than anyone should have
to deal with. Then you have the politicians that can't seem to get the idea
that people don't need someone else to spend their money for them.
I could go on.

How come you never give us a weather report in July when it's 110-deg/F
in the shade? I fantasize about warm weather this time of year by
listening to Radio New Zealand. Sometimes it's snowing here late at
night with the temperature in the teens while RNZI is carrying a live
cricket match on a warm sunny afternoon. Us northerners have had to
develop all kinds of strategies to get through the winter. Makes us
tough. Look what the heat did to the southerners. :-)
I'll get back to you in July when it's a beautiful summer day here and
you're trying to catch your breath from being outside for a few minutes.

Yea there are some real winners there as well as everywhere else. I like it
because of its geography and diversity. I live in MN now and the people seem
the same as there. Go figure? The fact is working class people are the same
everywhere. Its the special interest, big city politicians and politics that
give states a bad name. But as a piece of ground you have a hard time
finding a more beautiful state with as much recreation anywhere. Better SW
reception here in MN though.

Boy the humidity here in MN is bad in the summer at times. I'll take a 100
in Ca anytime over the humidity.

I agree. You always hear about Minnesota's snowy, cold winters, but you
never hear anything about our hot, sticky, nasty summers. Best seasons here
are spring and autumn... but they don't last very long.
