Panasonic RF-3100. Just got one of these in great shape physically,
and it plays beautifully on FM and the MW band but I can't pick up anything
on the SW bands...just a lot of white noise. I've got several shortwave sets
so I know I'm tuned to stations coming in loud and clear, but not on the
3100...I've set the antenna switch in the back to HIGH IMP as it says the
LOW IMP side will disconnect the telescopic antenna. Any ideas or
suggestions I might try. Great radio and I want it to work. Thanks...

Try connecting a length of wire to the external antenna clip on the back
and switch the antenna input to Low Imp. If the reception is normal
there must be something wrong with the whip circuit. If not, the radio
has a problem with the shortwave circuitry.
