When was the last time a president has mentioned the Voice of America
in a state of union address? I know that Reagan mentioned the VOA
during a speech marking an anniversary but I cannot recall if he said
anything about it during an address to Congress.

Guess this means they're gonna take A.F.R.T.S. off shortwave again, just like
Raygun did back in October of 1988 to pay for Radio/TV Marti ! Shrub's famous
for proposing programs, then grossly underfunding them, like hiz treatment of
veterans!

Bush mentioning a program is the kiss of death for that program. He's
like the cover of Sports Illustrated.

It is, indeed, a rare occasion. I work for VOA and
cannot recall another time when it was mentioned in
a S-O-U address.
