I occasionally listen for 10 meter beacons on my ATS-803A. Jackie You sure can hear fishing boats where you are, if the bands are open, even with a simple radio like a 803a. Sometimes signal strength is pretty high, and they boom in. They use (mostly) "clipped" ham rigs and can be heard worldwide. I know a guy who used to listen to them in germany, so you can get them too. Actually, I have no interest in broadcasts, except the loon preachers, etc. BDK |
