Two Logs
11.605 17:50 utc Kol Israel, Tel Aviv in hebrew (presumed- it sound a lot
like farsi to me) a woman reading what sounded like news. Suddenly cut off. I then checked 11.585 and there was an english broadcast of news read by a man, but the signal was not as strong or readable. I heard a broadcast from India in english as well, but as they got to the point of a voice clip discussing an "islamic bomb" the broadcast was cut off abruptly. Unfortunately I did not write down the frequency, but it seems ominous to me that it got cut off at just that point , givne the state of affairs between Pakistan and India at this moment. |

Maximus,
Though rocky at a few times in history, overall there have been good relations between Iran and Israel. Though smaller now than during the times of the Shah, there is also a notable Jewish population that dates back to Persian times. Under current Islamic rule, you are right though that life for Jews in Iran is not what you could call a cozy existance. Kol Israel is a decent catch, I haven't been able to get a good signal from them in months - granted I don't try every day though. Have never been able to receive Voice of Iran - is it even still operating? I have heard V. of the Islamic Republic but not recently, and never in
English - usually in Farsi. I remember hearing english from Israel when I lived in The Federal Republic of Germany - my dad was stationed there. It was the only foreign QSL I ever got. I don't remember what ever happened to it S. "Howard" wrote in message ... Maximus, Though rocky at a few times in history, overall there have been good relations between Iran and Israel. The 1800 broadcast is monitored on 9435 11585. They are sometimes on 11605 instead of 11585. I have heard them on 11605 for a full fifteen minutes, once they were on 11605 at 1800 but made a rapid switch to 11585 a few minutes later. The 2000-2025 broadcast is only monitored on 6280 here, at times the news content lasts for 15 minutes and they fill with music until 2025 sign off in English (Edwin Southwell, Basingstoke, UK, Feb World DX Club Contact via Mike Barraclough, DXLD) I heard a broadcast from India in english as well, but as they got to the point of a voice clip discussing an "islamic bomb" the broadcast was cut off abruptly. Maximus wrote: Thanks for all the info N8KDV ! You're welcome, note too that the frequency of 9435 that he has monitored for English at 1800 is in contrast to that posted on the http://israelradio.org/sw.htm site which shows 15640 instead. I'll be checking them out at 1800 just for the heck of it. "N8KDV" wrote in message ... They were alot easier to hear when they use to transmit on 9022 for
many years. I use to love their "casbah" tune internal signal. Marty San Juan, Puerto Rico |
